Ryan began his career at Ceefax. For the next two decades at BBC News, he worked across TV, radio and online. He reported from war zones and edited Radio 4 programmes including PM, Broadcasting House and World at One. During his time at Newsnight he distinguished himself by putting Cookie Monster on air. He co-created Radio 1’s The Story of Izzy Dix, which won the Radio Academy’s best podcast award in 2016. He joined the Panoply podcast network as managing producer – setting up a London production office to add to the firm’s stable of shows that already includes Trumpcast and Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.
