Her work from some of the world’s hotspots, which started in Afghanistan when she was just 22, has established her as one of the UK’s most authoritative reporters, and her narrative work consistently brings the vividness of real stories to her readers. She has won many major awards including five times being named Foreign Correspondent of the Year and Europe’s top war reporting prize, the Prix Bayeux. She was made an OBE by the Queen in 2013 and is an honorary fellow of University College, Oxford.
